Stairs at Rouen Cathedral

I knew of the Cathedral of Rouen from the famous series of paintings by Monet. Those paintings introduced me to the fact that time of day and night (link to night photography) impart to a subject different mood, feeling and atmosphere.Seems pretty obvious tha different lighting creates different moods and we all know this to a point, but to really feel it and beyond a supperficilal understanding is eye opening.

So I was happy to see that inside the Rouen Cathedral – I was also surprised you could just walk in- the lighting was so dramatic. Using fast film I was able to get a grainy texture that I have used on my black and white photos.
