Golden Door and Wall of Cordoba
$75.00
The first thing that struck me about this wall of the Mezquita was the symmetry. You could take the line separating the two golden doors, bring it all the way to the top, and you would have perfect symmetry.
Then after looking a little closer I noticed the difference in the window grates and the decoration above them. This might be because it was repaired at one time- the Mezquita is over a thousand years old so that is very possible- whatever it was it added A little something that made me look closer and see/think past what i was seeing.
So was it a repair ? Why didn’t the Christians who took over the Mezquita and painted murals on the inside leave their mark on the outside structure? Was it because they admired and respected the beauty of the Moorish architecture and craftsmanship, who knows?
